Lorelei Higgins
Rotary Peace Fellow

Lorelei Higgins recently had the opportunity to represent District 5360 as a Rotary Peace Fellow at the Peace Centre in Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.

Come hear about her adventures with the other 22 Rotary Peace Fellows from 14 different countries as they learned in the classroom and out in the field about each other and the current state realities of global peacebuilding initiatives!
In her current role as an Indigenous relations strategist with the City of Calgary, Lorelei has been able to apply all that she has learned as a Rotary Peace Fellow in a very immediate way. The Rotary Peace Fellowship has provided her with practical tools and a global network to support her as she works to implement the Truth and Reconciliation of Canada Calls to Action locally. One of the significant projects that she is working on is the establishment of the Calgary Indigenous Relations Office. At the core of its foundation is a peace-centric approach.
Since completing her Peace and Conflict Resolution certification at Chulalongkorn University, Lorelei has been serving as an Institute for Economics and Peace Ambassador. She has also recently been selected as a Rotary Peace Activator. Peace Activators will be available to facilitate peacebuilding efforts with Rotary and Rotary-affiliated organizations over the course of 2020 as the Activators complete their training. Lorelei will share some of what she has been learning as a Peace Activator.
