Help for the Highlands of Guatamala is a project we've been supporting for a few years.
Their mission is to help work towards a community with basic requirements for a physically healthy life and a better economic future are available to all in a sustainable manner by:
- providing soft skills on health-focused education as well as soft and hard skills on water, sanitation and stoves
-
promoting access to better education at all age levels
-
promoting sustainable income generating opportunities within the Guatemalan Maya community
Right to Play uses play and sports to enable children to take control of their lives. They become healthy and active participants in their communities as they learn math, reading and more. Right to Play helps children learn from their personal experiences.
Our club is supporting Right to Play in Benin.
Carol has been in contact with Casa Hogar to ask about their needs. They are changing their request following Hurricane Patricia. Many of the restaurants and organizations that normally donate food are struggling to rebuild, so they have a severe shortage to feed the children. We donated $1000 immediately to help alleviate that problem and will hold more in reserve depending on how it can best be spent at a later date. These are some pictures of the children cleaning up the street around the orphanage in Manzanillo.
